Crypto Influencer Jailed for $1M Cryptojacking Scheme

A U.S. court has sentenced a cryptocurrency influencer to prison for orchestrating a large-scale illegal mining operation. The defendant, Parks, defrauded cloud computing services of resources to mine approximately $1 million in digital assets between January and August 2021.

The scheme involved creating false corporate identities and email domains—including 'MultiMillionaire LLC' and 'CP3O LLC'—to gain unauthorized access to computing power. Parks deceived providers into granting elevated service privileges while evading inquiries about abnormal data usage and unpaid balances.

Prosecutors detailed how the influencer falsely claimed the resources WOULD support a media training business. Cryptojacking, the unauthorized use of computing resources for mining, remains a growing concern as bad actors exploit cloud infrastructure.
